My precious little flower :-)
Following breakfast we had her open all the gifts from our friends and family. The Voss' sent her this adorable shirt and hat...
And Mamma and Papa gave her a big girl scooter and 5 five-dollar-bills!
She also had a card with some money in it from her Nana & Papa because they knew where we were going to take her that day...So after packing a few things for the day we headed off in the car to OKC for a day of surprises for Miss Lily. Along the way some of our plans got changed, but she still ended up having a great day!
First we went to Penn Square Mall and took her to get some new shoes! This girl LOVES a cute, comfy pair of tennis shoes, so we let her pick out some new ones at the Vans store. She picked out "pink gwitterwy ones" (that's pink glittery ones!)
Unfortunately I did not get a picture of them BEFORE she wore them, so they already have some evidence of Lily's love on them ;-)
After getting some new shoes (which make her "wun weally fast") we took her to the Lego store which was a huge surprise for her. She was in Lego heaven!
First she made her very own Lego minifigure...
Then she picked out several Lego sets that she wanted to purchase with her birthday money. Finally she dove into the Lego wall at the back of the store where she could fill a cup with any colors/shapes/sizes of Legos she could dream of!
After leaving the mall our plan was to have a picnic lunch at the OKC zoo, but since the weather did not cooperate we went to Plan B... we would go to the Oklahoma Science Museum (Omniplex) and have our picnic lunch inside. However, when we checked inside the Museum it was SWARMING with people...we realized it was the first day of spring break...UGH!!! So on we went to Plan C... Oh, yeah, we didn't have a Plan C...So while we ate our "picnic lunch" in the car, Joel and I hatched up a Plan C. We found a nearby indoor play place and took the kids there. Although it wasn't quite what we had imagined for her birthday afternoon, the girls didn't seem to mind one bit... They LOVED it!!!
When we had finally worn them out, we let Lily pick where she wanted to go for her birthday dinner. She picked Spaghetti Warehouse (a girl after my own heart!) We had a fabulous dinner and headed home with full bellies and tired bodies :-) When we got home we let them have one more cupcake before heading to bed. Despite the fact that she didn't have a party this year, I think it's safe to say that she had quite an enjoyable 5th birthday!!!
